DESCRIPTION 
This is our largest returning boomerang – 20 inches wide.

It will fly large distances when thrown correctly – more than any other of our returning boomerangs.

It is painted with a variety of traditional Aboriginal symbolic art work, notably a meeting place in the middle of the boomerang and tracks at each end. 

This range showcases a range of traditional Aboriginal tribal and native animal track symbols.

We are very proud to offer this wonderful range of 20-inch-wide Tacks Design returning boomerangs that are handmade and hand painted by forth generation Aboriginal artist Josh Skeen. Josh is the son of 87-year-old Aboriginal elder, Joe Skeen Senior. Joe Skeen is widely acknowledged as the best and most experienced Aboriginal boomerang maker in Australia. He was taught by his father and grandfather over 71 years ago and still makes boomerangs using traditional Aboriginal techniques and designs. Joe has passed on all his experience to his son Josh who works alongside his famous father making boomerangs every day. 

LEFT OR RIGHT-HANDED THROWERS
We cater for left and right-handed throwers and it does make a real difference to your enjoyment. If you are left-handed, you will find it much easier to throw a left-handed designed boomerang. The left-handed boomerangs are designed to spin and circle in the opposite direction to the right-handed boomerang. All our returning handmade boomerangs come in both versions so please make sure you select your dominant hand throwing version.

WHAT IS A RETURNING BOOMERANG
A boomerang is a curved throwing stick used mainly by Australian Aboriginal people for hunting and warfare.
Boomerangs would often be decorated with carved drawings and paintings of animals and traditional symbols.
The two main types of boomerangs used by Aboriginal people in Australia were the returning and the hunter killers or kylie boomerang.

Unlike the hunter killer boomerangs that are heavier, these returning boomerangs are lighter and meant to return to the thrower. They were primarily used as a training boomerang for younger Aboriginal men, and were also used to scare game and make animals like a flock of birds rise from a lake and fly in a certain direction.
