These are an authentic Australian made small sized Aboriginal bullroarers, handmade and hand painted by prominent Aboriginal artist and artifact maker Josh Skeen.

Accompanying each gift is a First Nations designed gift card, from Australian company Earth Greetings. 

WHAT IS A BULLROARER
The bullroarer is an ancient ritual Aboriginal musical instrument and a device historically used for communicating over great distances. It consists of a piece of wood attached to a string or twine, which when swung in a large circle produces a roaring vibrato/humming sound. Bullroarers have been used in initiation ceremonies and in burials to ward off evil spirits, and for bad tidings. Bullroarers are considered secret men's business by all or almost all Aboriginal tribal groups, and hence forbidden for women, children, non-initiated men, or outsiders to even hear.

MAKER AND ARTIST
Josh Skeen is a fourth-generation Australian Aboriginal. He is the son of world-famous boomerang maker 87-year-old tribal elder Joe Skeen Senior, and works alongside his father at their farm every day in Brisbane, Australia.
